Together Building Skills For The Future

Vodafone Foundation believes in the power of technology to change lives. We connect for good, creating sustainable programmes to enable a safe and inclusive world where everyone can thrive. We connect Vodafone’s charitable giving and technology with the expertise of our partners, to create long-term solutions that help address the world’s more pressing problems.

With over 30 years’ experience, our programmes are designed for impact. We take a flexible approach, scaling globally while building strong local partnerships to ensure our work is tailored for the unique neds of individual communities.

Amref Health Africa is the largest Africa-based and African-led international health development organization, reaching over 30 million people annually across 35 countries in sub-Saharan Africa. With full operational status since 2002, Amref works to create lasting health change by strengthening health systems and addressing the broader social determinants of health. Central to this mission is youth development; empowering young people with the skills, knowledge, and opportunities needed to lead healthy and productive lives. Through impactful initiatives like the Kefeta Project, Amref has supported millions of Ethiopian youth in areas such as skills development, health education, employability, and economic empowerment.

Building on this foundation, Amref Health Africa in Ethiopia is currently implementing the Digital Inclusion for Youth (DIY) Project in partnership with Vodafone Foundation and Safaricom Ethiopia. The project responds to the growing demand for digital skills by enhancing the capacity of youth centers and providing practical, market-oriented training to boost youth employability in an increasingly digital economy. DIY reflects Amref’s commitment to sustainable, locally driven solutions through strategic partnerships and is a key step in advancing youth development as part of a broader vision for resilient and healthy communities across Ethiopia.

Safaricom Ethiopia Foundation, an independent charity registered under the Authority for Civil Society Organizations (Registration No. 7647), was officially launched in July 2025. Prior to its establishment, Safaricom Telecommunication Ethiopia PLC invested over USD 4 million in Corporate Social Responsibility programs that improved lives across Education, Health, Financial Inclusion, Agriculture, and Disaster Relief & Solidarity.

In partnership with Safaricom Telecommunication Ethiopia PLC, the Foundation continues to empower youth through the DIY initiative, offering connectivity to youth centers, 6GB monthly data for Safaricom Talent Cloud x DIY: Scholarship Edition winners, and 500MB monthly data for youth engaging via the DIY platform, fostering digital inclusion and access to opportunities.
